AREAS OF CLINICAL INTEREST IN NEUROLOGY
General neurology with a focus on headaches, peripheral nerve disorders, and Parkinson’s disease. EMG/NCV (nerve and muscle testing), chemodenervation (botulinum toxin administration), and deep brain stimulation.
Dr. Ales completed his undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences at the University of California at Santa Barbara. His interest in neurology stemmed from neuroscience classes taken during his undergraduate studies. An interest in a more holistic approach to medicine led him to seek training at an osteopathic medical school. He received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Des Moines University in Iowa. Dr. Ales completed his internship in Internal Medicine and residency in Neurology at George Washington University in Washington D.C.
After residency, Dr. Ales completed four years of active duty service in the United States Army at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio. During these years he cared for many returning soldiers from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. He also served on a rapid response team for biological, chemical, and nuclear attacks.
Dr. Ales has been married for 22 years and is the proud father of three children. He and his family are excited to reside in Colorado as they are outdoor enthusiasts and enjoy mountain biking, camping, hiking, and skiing. Dr. Ales enjoys gardening and woodworking. He volunteers at his church and sits on the Board and Scholarship Committee of the Colorado Springs Osteopathic Foundation.
